UN1950 Aerosol Sea Freight Regulation 2026 – Full Compliance Guide
Global aerosol packaging exporters are facing critical shipping rule changes in 2026, as the new UN1950 dangerous goods regulation for aerosols was officially updated on May 9.
This new standard directly affects all aluminum aerosol cans, tin aerosol cans and bag-on-valve aerosol products exported by sea to Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North America.
The maximum single aerosol can volume for sea shipment is downgraded from 1000ml to 750ml. Oversized cans will be refused by shipping lines and customs clearance.
All aerosol outer packaging must use fireproof coated cartons to meet international dangerous goods storage and transportation safety standards. Ordinary corrugated boxes are no longer acceptable.
Every production batch needs a standard QR code label for full lifecycle traceability, including production date, specification, safety certificate and inspection record.
Non-compliant packaging will cause shipping detention, customs hold, extra fines and delivery delays, which seriously affects your brand supply chain.
